Amanda D. Yasbek

Managing Attorney & Owner of Onyx Law Office

With over 12 years of experience, Amanda D. Yasbek, a Certified Family Law Specialist, is the passionate founder and owner of Onyx Law Office. Amanda’s journey into law was inspired by a deep desire to positively impact her clients’ lives. This dedication has been the driving force behind her practice, where she provides exceptional legal representation in family law and estate planning.

She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and was duly admitted to the State Bar of California. Her passion for International Law led her to study abroad in Salzburg, Austria, where she obtained her International Legal Studies certificate, and had the esteemed privilege of learning under Supreme Court Justice, Anthony Kennedy.

Before founding Onyx Law Office, Amanda gained invaluable experience working with prominent law firms. She is a recognized leader in family law and has been named “Best Attorney in Folsom” for five consecutive years. Under her leadership, Onyx Law Office has become an award-winning firm known for its commitment to excellence and compassionate client service.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Ms. Yasbek is deeply involved in her community, generously dedicating her time and expertise to various initiatives and causes. When she’s not advocating for her clients, she treasures moments with her husband, daughter, and dog in Tahoe, surrounded by family, or exploring new destinations through travel.

Alexis Arriaga

Associate Attorney

Alexis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX, and obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. Before becoming an attorney, she gained valuable experience as a Law Clerk at Onyx Law Office, APC, where she worked diligently for several years.

Alongside her tenure at Onyx Law Firm, Alexis has served as a Certified Law Student at the Sacramento County Public Defender’s Office and as a legal assistant at the Pacific Justice Institute. Hailing from Texas, Alexis Arriaga now resides in Sacramento with her fiancé and their beloved fur son, Leo.

During her leisure time, Alexis enjoys outdoor activities and actively engages with the local community through civic engagement.

Parisa Shafajoo

Law Clerk

Parisa Shafajoo is a first generation Iranian American born and raised in Folsom, California. Parisa received her Bachelor of Arts from Sacramento State University in Political Science, International Relations and a minor in Peace & Conflict Resolutions. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law (TJSL) in San Diego, CA. At TJSL, Parisa was the Vice President of the Student Bar Association (SBA) and President of the Family Law Society. Parisa also received an award of Student Leader of the Year in 2023 from the Iranian American Bar Association in San Diego.

Prior to law school, Parisa was a paralegal here at the Law Office of Amanda D. Berger before we rebranded to Onyx Law Office. While in law school, Parisa was a Certified Law Clerk at Sharif | Faust Lawyers. Parisa has over 5 years of family law experience. Parisa is now a Law Clerk here at Onyx Law Office currently awaiting the results of the California Bar Exam.

Parisa enjoys cooking and has a passion for traveling. So far, she has been to 36 countries with a goal of reaching 100 in her lifetime. Also, Parisa loves spending time with her Goldendoodle Max and cat Milo.

Katelyn Davis

Senior Paralegal

Katelyn Davis received her bachelor’s degree in Deaf Studies/ American Sign Language from Sacramento State University. Following her bachelor’s degree, Katelyn received her paralegal certification in 2021, which began her paralegal career within family law.

 

Katelyn is an experienced senior paralegal who is passionate about helping clients through difficult times. She is known for her dedication, honesty, and can-do attitude to deliver the best outcomes possible for our clients.

 

When not at the office, you can find Katelyn exploring the outdoors with her husband and dog.

Jessica Boparai

Paralegal

Jessica is a dedicated paralegal with a strong passion for family law. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Sacramento State University and has earned both a paralegal and an advanced paralegal certificate from the University of the Pacific. Her interest in research related to social issues within the legal realm motivated her to pursue a career as a paralegal.

Prior to joining Onyx Law Office, Jessica gained significant experience in immigration law. Her passion for this area of law is deeply personal, inspired by her father’s courageous journey to the U.S.

Outside of her professional work, Jessica enjoys weightlifting, shopping, exploring various cafes, reading about zodiac signs and astrology, wine tasting, engaging in self-care activities, and traveling.

Briana Nagel

Legal Assistant

Briana is a distinguished graduate of California State University, Sacramento, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. She also holds an Associate degree in Administration of Justice from Folsom Lake College. During her academic tenure at Sacramento State, Briana consistently demonstrated academic excellence, earning a spot on the Dean’s List every semester. Additionally, she was an active member of both the American Sign Language Club and the First-Generation Students Club.

With a deep-seated commitment to justice, Briana has been captivated by the legal system from an early age. She gained valuable experience working as a security officer while pursuing her studies, where she honed her skills in managing high-stress situations with sensitivity. Briana aspires to further her education to enhance her ability to assist individuals navigating the legal system.

A native of El Dorado County, Briana is dedicated to the well-being of her community. She resides in Cameron Park with her fiancé and their beloved pets. In her free time, she enjoys hiking with her German Shepherd, swimming and fishing at local lakes, and playing video games.
